Course offerings:

Graphic Design:

This course is an exploration of the fundamental principles of graphic design through a series of topic units. Students will explore various methods and practices in order to create original designs that communicate a message. This course is primarily computer based, but does require the student to hand draw/sketch ideas. Students will learn to use Adobe Illustrator® and Photoshop® to complete their assignments. Projects include creating promotional materials such as logos, illustrations, brochures, posters, cards, and advertising designs. This class will provide students with the opportunity to explore a career in Graphic Design.

Advanced Graphic Design:

This Course takes students to an advanced understanding of theory and concepts of visual communication used to present information or promote a message to a consumer driven market. Students must have an understanding of the elements and principles of design. Students will be able to apply basic skills learned in previous classes such as typography, image development, layout, scanning images, manipulating photographs, and creating digital artwork to projects that will create comprehensive investigations into visual communication and culture. Students will apply the understanding of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator to take their digital designs to the next level and learn how to use computer software such as Wacom Tablets and animation programs.
